How to season a humidor?

For our desk humidors (humidors that hold more than 10 cigars):

  • How to season a wooden cigar humidor with Boveda:
  • Remove your cigars from your humidor and move them into a closed Tupperware® container, cooler or a Humidor Bag with 69% Boveda.
  • Place the 84% Boveda seasoning pack(s) inside your empty wooden humidor.
  • Close the lid and don’t open the humidor for 14 days—no matter what your hygrometer readings are. (The wait is worth it. Trust us.)
  • After 14 days, open your humidor, remove the Boveda seasoning pack(s) and discard them—they aren’t reusable.
  • Move your cigars into your well-seasoned humidor and add new Boveda packs in your desired RH—65%, 69%, 72% or 75%. This handy chart will help you choose the right RH for you.

  • For our largest humidors holding 250-300 cigars we recommend manually seasoning the wood over the course of a week by spraying distilled water only on the wooden surfaces every other day till the desired humidity is reached.

For our travel humidors (holding less than 10 cigars):

  • A Boveda pack placed in our travel humidors will suffice. There is no need to condition these given the small space. We recommend 4 gram, or larger, Boveda pack in our travel humidors. We often start with a larger pack and fewer cigars in our travel humidors and once the larger pack is at end of life then switch the the smaller 4 gram packs moving forward.

Return or Exchange Policy:

      • You can find our return/exchange policy on the bottom of our checkout page when filling out your personal information in the shopping cart close out process. Thank you. 
      • Our policy is also listed here for your convenience: 
      • -> We have a 14-calendar-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
      • -> To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
      • -> To start a return, you can contact us at info@carbonatelier.com. You will be responsible for return shipping costs.
      • -> If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted or refunded.
      • -> You can always contact us for any return question at info@carbonatelier.com
      • Damages and issues
      • -> Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
      • Exceptions / non-returnable items
      • -> Certain types of items cannot be returned, like custom products (such as special orders or personalized items). Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
      • -> Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items, discounted items or gift cards.
      • Exchanges
      • -> The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
      • European Union 14 day cooling off period
      • -> Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
      • Refunds
      • -> We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

      • Holiday Return Policy
      • -> Items purchased online that are received between November 4, 2022 and December 25, 2022, may be returned through January 8, 2023. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. Items purchased by carrier financing are not eligible for extended returns and are subject to the Standard Return Policy and may be charged additional fees up to 10% the value of the purchase. All purchases made after December 25, 2022 are subject to the Standard Return Policy.

Expected Patina or Wear:

  • We aim to use automotive materials in our products, especially for the carbon fiber, coating for the carbon fiber, aluminum end caps and SuperSuede or Alacantara fabrics. These materials have an extremely long life and are wear resistant. Nevertheless coated or painted surfaces will exhibit some scratching especially the aluminum end-caps of our travel humidor and watch safe. This is to be expected as it is a painted and delicately finished surface. Please note this is expected and documented wear.
